I’m currently working as the Creative Director and Live Visual Artist behind Don Diablo’s new show “Hexagon”
The show had its grand premiere at the Amsterdam Dance Event.
Here is what they had to say about our collaboration:
“Beamlab presents the worldwide premiere of Hexagon with Don Diablo and Emile van de Coevering!
Don Diablo is a Dutch dj/producer who was born and raised in Holland and more recently moved to London where he signed a record deal with Columbia Records. He is currently working on an artist album. The first single of the album, featuring Alex Clare and Kelis, is a standout example of his diversity as a producer. Past collaborations with artists like Diplo, Example, Dragonette and Noisia all led up to a trademark sound with a recognizable signature. More recently Swedish House Mafia member Axwell also got wind of Don’s music and immediately snapped up “Starlight (Could you be mine)” for his Axtone label. Don’s recent residency at Las Vegas’ hottest new club Light alongside Skrillex, Zedd and Axwell is more proof of a bright future ahead.
Co-directing most of his own music videos as well as working on several cinematic soundtracks has always kept Don’s fascination for combining visuals with music alive and kicking. When he ran into Emile van de Coevering – one of the creative directors at L.A. Based visual company V Squared Labs – almost two years ago, they started talking about creating a brand new visual concept. One year later, after several long nights of brainstorming between London, Amsterdam and L.A. they came up with the basic concept of The Hexagon.
With Emile and V Squared Labs’s experience gathered from working on shows for Amon Tobin, Datsik & Skrillex and Don’s history as a video director they worked towards a show that would combine all these elements with an added twist. Based around the infamous story of a legendary next level arcade game, that mysteriously disappeared in the eighties, they brought to live a show that will see its worldwide premiere during this year’s ADE Beamlab edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event.”
